Following Clues and Knowing When to Ask for Help

Direction words and safe choices can work together

Fuzzi and Gram use clues such as up, down, near, and beside to figure out where to go, but they also recognize that a tall Clock Tower needs the right grown-up helper. This story supports spatial language while reinforcing that children should not try risky rescues alone. As you read, ask, “Which direction should they go next?” or “Who could help with the kite safely?”

Play a simple directions game in a familiar space: “Walk toward the chair,” “Look behind the pillow,” or “Put the toy beside the book.” Include a few pretend situations where the answer is to ask an adult for help, such as something stuck too high or too close to traffic. Praise both skills with words like, “You followed that clue,” “You used a direction word,” or “You knew when to get a helper.”
