Noticing When a Friend Needs Connection

Small acts of care can help someone feel less alone

Fuzzi and Gram notice that Bubbles seems lonely and take time to think about what might help. This story gives children language for paying attention to a friend’s feelings and offering gentle, caring support. As you read, ask, “What clues tell Fuzzi and Gram that Bubbles may be lonely?” or “What could make a friend feel included?”

Talk with your child about simple ways to reach out when someone seems left out: offer a game, sit nearby, ask a kind question, or invite them to join. Remind them that listening matters too, because each friend may want something different. Reinforce empathy with words like, “You noticed your friend’s feelings,” “You helped them feel included,” or “That was a thoughtful way to connect.”
