Good kitchen habits help keep food safe and fun to share
Chef Bella’s busy café shows that even when many people are waiting, careful kitchen steps still matter. Washing hands, measuring ingredients, and asking an adult for help with cooking are ways children can contribute safely. As you read, ask, “What should Fuzzi and Gram do before touching food?” or “Why is it important to slow down and measure carefully?”
Invite your child to help make a simple recipe with close adult supervision. They can wash hands, count or measure ingredients, stir, and help set out napkins while an adult handles heat and sharp tools. Practice staying calm when the kitchen feels busy by naming one step at a time. Reinforce safe choices with words like, “You remembered to wash your hands,” “You measured carefully,” or “You helped serve our food safely.”
