Manny’s busy sale gives Fuzzi and Gram a chance to take on real jobs at the market. As they listen to their tasks, work together, and follow through, children see that being helpful means noticing what needs doing and doing their part. As you read, ask, “What job did Manny give Fuzzi and Gram?” or “How did their help make the sale go smoothly?”
Offer your child a small, specific responsibility at home, such as placing napkins on the table, matching socks, feeding a pet with help, or putting books back on a shelf. Explain the task clearly, then give them time to complete it before stepping in. Reinforce follow-through with words like, “You remembered your job,” “You helped our family,” or “You finished what you started.”
