Noticing and Celebrating Everyday Kindness

Gratitude helps children see the caring actions all around them

When a thank-you note blows away, Fuzzi and Gram chase it through Fuzziland and remember the many kind moments it was meant to celebrate. Their adventure helps children see that gratitude can begin by noticing someone’s helpfulness, care, or thoughtfulness. As you read, ask, “What kind thing did Fuzzi and Gram remember?” or “Who would you like to thank today?”

Make gratitude part of a simple daily routine by sharing one kind thing you noticed or one person you appreciate. Your child can draw a picture, dictate a short thank-you message, or offer their thanks in person. Keep the focus on specific actions: “Thank you for helping me with my shoes.” Reinforce gratitude with words like, “You noticed their kindness,” “Your thank-you made them feel seen,” or “We can celebrate caring things people do.”
