Making Toothbrushing Part of a Cozy Bedtime Routine

Small, steady routines help children care for their smiles

Fuzzi and Gram’s search for the missing toothbrush makes bedtime care feel like a gentle adventure. Brushing teeth is an important part of caring for a healthy smile, and a familiar routine can help children feel more confident doing it each night. As you read, ask, “Where would you look for the toothbrush?” or “What helps you remember to brush your teeth?”

Keep toothbrushing simple and positive by making it part of the same bedtime sequence each night, such as pajamas, brush, story, and sleep. Let your child choose a child-sized toothbrush or use a favorite song or timer to make the moment feel special. Offer encouragement such as, “You took care of your teeth tonight,” or “Your bedtime routine is helping your smile stay strong.”
