Growing Imagination Through Everyday Places

A familiar walk can become a new adventure with pretend play

On their walk through Fuzziland, Fuzzi and Gram use imagination to see something new in every familiar place. A street, park, or shop can become part of a playful story when children wonder, pretend, and build on each other’s ideas. As you read, ask, “What did this place become in Fuzzi and Gram’s adventure?” or “What could it become in your own pretend story?”

Take an imagination walk together indoors or outside. At each stop, invite your child to decide what the place could become: a castle, a space station, a pirate harbor, or a home for friendly animals. Follow their ideas with curious questions and add your own turn to the story. Reinforce creative thinking with words like, “You saw a new possibility,” “Your idea changed our adventure,” or “We built a story together.”
