A checklist can turn a busy day into manageable steps
Gram’s busy day shows children that forgetting happens to everyone, and it does not mean they cannot make things right. A simple checklist gives him a way to slow down, remember what matters, and take one task at a time. As you read, ask, “What did Gram forget?” or “What could help him remember the next job?”
Make a short picture checklist together for a familiar routine, such as getting ready to leave, cleaning up toys, or preparing for bedtime. Keep it to a few achievable steps and let your child mark each one off. If something is missed, focus on repairing it rather than blaming: “What can we do next?” “Let’s check our list,” or “You remembered to come back and finish.”
