Building Early Reading Skills Through Clues and Sequences
Following one clue at a time helps children organize their thinking
Fuzzi and Gram discover that every colorful sign holds a clue, and each clue points them to the next part of the mystery. Their adventure helps children practice looking closely, listening for important words, and keeping events in order. As you read, ask, “What does this sign’s riddle tell Fuzzi and Gram?” or “What clue should they follow next?”
Make a simple clue trail at home using pictures, colors, or short phrases your child can help read. Keep the clues in a clear sequence and celebrate each step before moving to the next one. You can also ask your child to put three familiar events in order: first, next, and last. Reinforce their thinking with words like, “You found the clue,” “You remembered what came next,” or “You followed the sequence carefully.”
